towards the prevention of diabetes. Simply put, the epidemic of
type 2 diabetes is associated with decreasing levels of activity
and an increase in obesity. The Surgeon General’s Report
on Physical Activity and Health states that exercise plays an important
role in health promotion and disease prevention. The report recommends
that all individuals accumulate a minimum of 30 minutes
of moderate intensity physical activity on most days of the week.
